Established in 1995, with the objective of enhancing mutual co-operation and foster connections among takaful operators globally.Stage 1-The ASEAN Takaful Group was formed on 28 October 1995 as an informal group -Its founding members were Syarikat Takaful Malaysia, PT Asuransi Takaful Umum, PT Asuransi akaful Keluarga, Insurans Islam Taib and Takaful IBB-Secretariat: Syarikat Takaful Malaysia BerhadStage 2-Change its name to Asian Takaful Group following resolution of members during AGM in Colombo, Sri Lanka in 2004 in order to reflect membership across a larger geographical area-No of members: 15-Secretariat: Asean Retakaful International (L) (ARIL)Stage 3-Legally incorporated in May 2007 as a company limited by guarantee in Labuan. The secretariat was passed on from ARIL to Labuan Re-Renamed as Global Takaful Group to accommodate worldwide membership-No of members: 49-Secretariat was outsourced to Malaysian Takaful Association (MTA) and an Executive Secretary was appointed Effective from 1 July, 2011, Brighton Management Limited was appointned as the Secretariat
