The development of global competence and confidence in young people – engaging in global content, curriculum innovations, linking classrooms, exchange programs, etc. – all ultimately depend on the preparedness and enthusiasm of their teachers. It follows that the ‘internationalization' of teacher preparation programs entails the equipping of tomorrow's teachers with the knowledge and pedagogical skills necessary to cultivate global citizens in their classrooms. Complementing the excellent work already being done in many colleges of education, professional bodies, and foundations, Global Teacher Education (GTE) provides a forum for all to share successful strategies and experiences, exchange ideas, learn from each other, and stimulate new approaches. We welcome all who wish to contribute to these discussions and learn from the experience of others – teacher educators, deans and heads of colleges of education, thought leaders in policy and educational administration, and others deeply interested in the field.GTE was established to support the internationalization of teacher preparation.
