The Global Urban Air Pollution Observatory (GUAPO) is an associated founded in 2017 at the initiative of Anne Hidalgo, Mayor of Paris, and Patrick Ollier, President of the Greater Paris Metropolis. It is co-chaired by Pauline Krikke, Mayor of The Hague, and Charlotte Marchandise, President of the French branch of the WHO Healthy Cities network.GUAPO aims to adopt a holistic approach to achieve breathable air:- Promote cities and metropolises as front-line actors in the fight against air pollution;- Centralize and make accessible data on air quality;- Document the health impacts of air pollution on urban populations;- Develop information, awareness-raising and citizen engagement tools aimed at the general public.
