Computer Games - Perth, Western Australia, Australia
Gnomic Studios is a game developer based in Perth, Western Australia. It was founded in early 2009 by a team of 3 people; Aranda Morrison, Scott Millar and Adam Matera, to develop a game for the prestigious Microsoft XNA Dream.Build.Play. competition. Over the course of development Jeremy Prestwood and Joel Taylor joined the team as audio engineer and composer. The finished product, Square Off, ranked 15th overall and was second place for Australia. With the success of placing in the top 20 Gnomic then decided to develop Square Off for release for the Xbox Live Indie Gamer (XBLIG) platform. The final product was released on December 17th, 2009 to critical acclaim and has continued to be a popular choice on the marketplace. Not wanting to rest on our laurels we continued to work on Square Off, adding more levels, more music and more features. During this time we also gained 3 extra staff members Josh Stewart, Ben Schroeder and Ben Wright who have helped immeasurably with quality assurance. This has culminated in us releasing the first major patch for Square Off in July 2010.Following the success of Square Off on Xbox Live Indie Games, the team decided to make the jump to mobile gaming by releasing Square Off on Windows Phone 7. Released on May 2nd 2011, a customised control system was implemented to suit the phone, while still retaining the frantic fun of the original game.We are now contemplating other games and platforms like Android and iPhone.
