Good Samaritan House is the only provider of emergency shelter and housing-related services for women and their children in Madison County, Illinois and serves Region 4 of the Illinois Department of Public Health. Founded in 1998 by a local ministerial alliance, Good Samaritan House reopened its doors in 2020 to empower women and children experiencing homelessness with guidance, shelter and hope. Staff and volunteers create an empathetic, Christian environment that's free of judgement, yet full of support. In addition to meals, clothing and assistance to keep or re-enroll children in school, residents receive help applying for programs such as Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) and Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).To donate, volunteer or find out more, visit GoodSamHouse.org, email goodsamaritanhouse@gshofgc.org or call 618-300-7255.
