At Good Scout Capital LLC, we believe in the combination of American democracy and capitalism to offer the most abundant and rewarding opportunities for the most people. However, the pandemic reinforced that our economic system benefits the few and not the many, and prioritizes large corporations over small and medium enterprises (SMEs). Our inaugural Scout Fund Alpha LLC seeks to solve this inequity by advancing an inclusive capitalist system for SMEs and their respective workforce.Our fund addresses the following market inefficiencies to support underserved small and medium enterprises and diverses operators and workforce:- Lack of start-up or early stage, patient and flexible capital products- Increasing wealth gap between executives and workers- Lack of strategy, financial and other back office support services to sustain and scale small and medium businesses- Lack of underrepresented entrepreneursGSC accomplishes this under the following social impact principles through a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) lens:Diversity- Source and fund a diverse set of experienced entrepreneurs managing diverse, low-wage labor forces- Diverse Fund Managers, Technical Assistance, and Backoffice TeamEquity- Employee Ownership / Profit-Sharing- Fund focused on maximizing dividends to operators and employees with a <10-year payback period for investors- Right of first refusal for employees to purchase available equityInclusion - Inclusive capitalism that solves for the financing gap for underrepresented entrepreneurs in social enterprise- Financing and wealth / equity opportunities for low-wage workers from all backgrounds
