Pharmaceuticals - Memphis, Tennessee, United States
Good Shepherd Pharmacy is a nonprofit membership pharmacy serving uninsured and underinsured patients across the United States. We exist to improve the lives of our members through affordable pharmacy services and the gospel of Jesus Christ. Founded on the belief that the value a pharmacist provides has nothing to do with the price of the medicine, Dr. Jide Anyigbo and Dr. Phil Baker opened Good Shepherd Pharmacy in September 2015 as the nation's first membership pharmacy providing at-cost clinical pharmacy services and medications for a fixed monthly fee. As a result, our members can save 60 to 90 percent on medications for chronic illnesses and conditions. A portion of each membership goes toward sponsoring a low-income member who cannot afford membership fees so that no one is turned away for the inability to pay. Since its founding, more than 2,500 patients across the nation have received affordable medications from Good Shepherd's membership program and more than 1,000 chronically ill patients depend on Good Shepherd to refill their medications every day. Additionally, we have diverted more than $11 million worth of donated medication from the landfill into the hands of vulnerable patients. Good Shepherd Pharmacy also doubles as a free certified pharmacy technician training program that takes students from zero knowledge to board certified in six months.
