Health, Wellness & Fitness - Ann Arbor, Michigan, United States
Instagram has been shown to increase social comparison, create unrealistic body ideals, and promote an excessive approach to health (more in the podcast linked). Knowing this is something many college students, ourselves included, struggle with, we decided to tackle the problem from the source: creating an Instagram page dedicated promoting energy, balance, joy, and most importantly, de stigmatizing the one size fits all approach to health and wellness many social media accounts perpetuate. Taking a similar format to @humansofnewyork, we interview students in the Ann Arbor community about what health means to them, and post these diverse stories on Instagram. By sharing student stories, we hope to show that "health" is something personal, dynamic, and means something different for every person. At its core, a healthy lifestyle is whatever makes you feel good.
