Fund-raising - West Caldwell, New Jersey, United States
Over the past four years, our team has put together the Brendan Tevlin Lacrosse Festival. The eventhonors the memory of Brendan Patrick Tevlin, a great young man who meant so much to his friends, family and community. Brendan, a Livingston resident and graduate of Seton Hall Prep, was recognized for his service toward others and his volunteer efforts. He was an honor student throughout high school, a lacrosse player and enthusiastic surfer who also left his mark on numerous programs. Most notably was his participation in Autism Big Brothers, as a founding member of NJ Restore the Shore to organize clean up after Hurricane Sandy and as a volunteer ski instructor with the Winter Special Olympics. A proud Irishman, Brendan was a bagpiper with the Essex County Shillelagh Pipes and Drums band and he enjoyed summers at the Jersey Shore. When Brendan returned home after his Freshman year at the University of Richmond, he discussed theidea of organizing a pick-up lacrosse game with friends, a "reunion" for some of the graduates of Seton Hall Prep's Class of 2013. In the four years since Brendan was tragically taken from us, we have gathered to carry out his idea of what has now become the Brendan Tevlin Lacrosse Festival. The event is an opportunity for people of all ages and skill levels to play a game Brendan loved and create the reunion setting he had suggested. In addition to Youth and Adult lacrosse games, we run a silent auction and gather at a barbeque with old friends and new. All are welcome! Our goal, as a newly formed not-for-profit under the name Good Vibes and Easy Living Foundation, is tocarry out Brendan's passion for service and raise funds in his memory. Proceeds are donated to charities and organizations that best match Brendan's spirit, interests and love of life.
