GOOJ started out of a need for authentic pottery into the modern homes of all creatives. All pieces are handmade and slipcasted using organic clay and finished in a natural fire oven to ensure its shatter proof life.GOOJ translates to the Armenian word for "clay vessel" used from 700 BC to transport naturally alkaline water from streams or store wine during celebrations. Gooj-es became such a nuanced part of Armenian communities as Armenian women would balance them atop their shoulder for miles on foot. A nod to the Mediterranian, GOOJ aims to elevate ceramics by transforming the need of a vessel into a want.
