The goshoboh group operates several luxury Japanese style hotels (Ryokans), restaurants, and a museum in Arima, one of the most historic hot-spring destinations in Japan. The root of the group is the ryokan "Tocen Goshoboh", founded in 1191 to serve nobles and high ranking priests. The group kept its authenticity by being operated by Kanai family through generations.One of the renowned aspects of its hotels is the Japanese sense of beauty it has refined in collaboration with the artist Hirosuke Watanuki. , beauty made from the mix of the sense of "In praise of shadows" by the iconic novelist Tanizaki Junichiro, who was a Goshoboh fan, and that of European flair. This blend reflects the openness of Japan after a long cultural isolation of Edo period.
