Government Post Graduate College, Dharamshala, the college of excellence, carries a long magnificent history of its own and the institution is now eighty four years old. The foundation stone of the college was laid by Sir Louis Dane, the then Lt. Governor of Punjab on 4th May, 1912. It was the first college in the state to introduce the faculties of Arts, Science and Commerce and also Post Graduation in different subjects. The college is also accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council, Bangloroo (NAAC). The collective efforts of teaching and non-teaching staff have already brought splendid and brilliant results and the roots of the college are spread throughout the country. The college has sanctioned strength of 83 teachers and 43 non-teaching staff.
