The Government General Degree College at Manbazar II, the first government college of the district, was established vide GO Number 103-Edn. (A/NGC), Dated 10.10.2014. It is situated at Mouja Susunia, JL No. 198, Block Manbazar II, PO- Kumari, Dist. – Purulia, PIN -723131. The college premise, surrounded by a picturesque hilly range of the Chhotonagpur Plateau, covers more than 5 (five) acres of land with a two-storied Administrative-cum-academic building and a Students' Activity Centre in it. The latter houses two Common Rooms for the boys and the girls respectively and a canteen for the students. The premise has ample space for a play-ground and for several outdoor sports facilities. The college offers Bachelors' Degree with Honours in Mathematics, Geology, Bengali, English, Santali, History and Political Science. It also offers Bachelors' Degree in Humanities (Gen.) and Pure Science (Gen.). The college has 23 (twenty three) teaching posts (WBES) and a post for the Principal (WBSES). Sanctioned posts also include 8 (eight) Non-teaching staffs including 1 (one) Librarian. Government General Degree College has seats for 155 (one hundred and fifty five) seats for the Honours Courses and 140 (one hundred and forty) seats for the General Courses. Situated in a locality with a sizable population of indigenous people, the college can sincerely contribute to the overall development of this population.
