The GICCL 'Islamia College, Civil Lines' in Lahore, Pakistan was founded in 1947 on the premises of the famous DAV (Dayanand Anglo Vedic) College which then shifted to Ambala, Haryana, India after partition. Graduates and students of this college are referred to as "Faranians". The College is near where Bhagat Singh killed the British police officer John P. Saunders. The college has rival competition with the (RAVIANS) Govt. college lahore in education & cricket teams & famous as second Govt.College in lahore punjab .Graduates and students of this college are referred to as "Habibians", named for the college's oldest and central building.Government Islamia College Civil Lines (Urdu: اسلامیہ کالج), formerly called Dayanand Anglo Vedic College, is a government college located in Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan. Founded by Arya Samaj as the school of Dayanand Anglo Vedic on June 1, 1886.[1] It was later renamed as the Dayanand Anglo Vedic (DAV) College.[2] The college was named after the Hindu leader Dayananda Saraswati.[3]The college was nationalized by the Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto regime in 1972. The college is run by the Ministry of Education (Higher Wing), Government of Punjab, Pakistan.[4]GICCL Lahore Merit List of the Govt.
