The Macromolecules and Interfaces Research Group was created in 2012 by professors Marcio Vidotti and Izabel Riegel Vidotti. The Group operates in two main lines of research: physical chemistry of macromolecules and synthesis and characterization of electroactive and hybrid nanomaterials. The line of research in Physical-Chemistry of Macromolecules involves the preparation of self-assembled systems, formed from macromolecules, and the study of their interfacial interactions, both in solution and adsorbed to surfaces. Currently, research projects have investigated complex polysaccharides of plant origin for applications as nanoparticle stabilizers, in the formation of electroactive blends and in delivery systems. The line of research in Synthesis and Characterization of Electroactive and Hybrid Nanomaterials involves the development of new materials with distinct electrochemical properties from inorganic (such as oxides, hydroxides and metals) and organic compounds (such as surfactants, conductive polymers).
