Music - Melbourne, Victoria, Australia
Formed in 2013, Grace Notes Singers (GNS) is a vibrant community choir providing an opportunity for women from all walks of life to join forces in song and make new friends in music. GNS covers a wide variety of musical styles and enjoys showcasing music by Australian composers. In 2014, GNS collaborated with local composer Lorraine Milne and other women's choirs to record her new Australian song cycle Maiden Voyage. Annual workshops also provide the opportunity to work with Australian composers and arrangers. GNS performs locally in the Moonee Valley and at festivals in the Greater Melbourne area, including the Voices of Women Festival and the Montsalvat Choral Festival. GNS are regular prizewinners at contests including the Melbourne International Singers Festival, Eisteddfod by the Bay and the Booroondara Eisteddfod. GNS presents its own annual spring concert, A Graceful Afternoon, and has performed for numerous functions including Rotary Club Christmas, Craigcare Aged Care, Union Road Carols, Moonee Valley Carols in Queens Park, Winter Concert Series at the Clocktower and the occasional wedding and private fundraiser. Most GNS singers have ensemble experience and/or have taken private voice lessons. All have a lifelong passion for singing and love to perform together. We welcome newcomers throughout the year.Rehearsals take place weekly in Essendon and singers enjoy an informal weekly 'bake-off' for supper.
