Gran Beef Meat Co., was founded in 2016 by Bruno Junqueira de Andrade. Both the "Junqueira" and "Andrade" families are well established in Brazilian agriculture and cattle farming and have had a major impact on the Brazilian livestock scene. Bruno belongs to the fourth generation of ranchers to have grown up on the ranch. He has a degree in Zootechnics and an MBA, in addition to degrees in several Agribusiness courses. The Nelore cattle breed were imported into Brazil in the 1970's and Bruno's grandfather, Francisco W. Theodoro de Andrade, was one of the first in the country to raise this breed in its polled variant. He subsequently became a major player in the production of bulls of only the highest and most superior quality. Continuing the family tradition, Joaquim T. de Andrade, Bruno's father, continued raising and improving the cattle breed, which today only boasts the best quality herds – the result of more than 30 years of superior quality selection. These polled Nelore cows are now cross-bred with Angus and Wagyu breeds, which has resulted in amazingly soft quality meat. Bruno took over the reins of the family business in 2014, maintaining the traditional practices, yet incorporating modern thinking and methods. And so, the Gran Beef – Sustainable Meat project – was born. Before the Gran Beef brand was launched on the market, Bruno procured environmental and sustainability certifications in order to authenticate more credibility to the brand and guarantee the origin of the product. After much effort and years of dedication and investment, the ranch now proudly bears the internationally recognised Rainforest Alliance Certification as well as the Methane Neutral Meat seal. The company is expected to meet the most stringent requirements to achieve this accreditation, which does not only take into account the final product, but also the entire production process which involves employees´ training and satisfaction, positive involvement with surrounding communities, the application of good practice, animal welfare and environmental improvements. The animals are all free-range, hormone free, and receive feed supplement in their last 120 days. Always seeking to innovate and provide superior quality to demanding customers, Gran Beef now arrives at the Swiss Market, with a product that is not only of the highest quality but that is also produced in a sustainable and eco-friendly way. Gran Beef has a strong commitment to the future of its upcoming generations and the wellbeing of its consumers and it is for this reason that the ranch always has its doors open to visitors.
