Welcome to Grand Cafe Leyaal. This is your place to enjoy food and the pleasure of taste. I, your host Amir Samet will be serving you delicious dishes fused and inspired from the best of the Mediterranean. We might have opened in 2017, yet Grand Cafe Leyaal has been 18 years in the making. The journey started in a humble French restaurant in S-hertogenbosch and your host was a young dishwasher. It is amazing what one can learn from cleaning plates. You learn so much about food and the way people interact with it. Without looking at the kitchen or the restaurant. I know what is a hit and what is a miss. I know how people ate the food, how they enjoy it. These are the details I learnt from every dish I washed. My father cooked, when he had time. I was mostly left to go out to the city and pick from a wide range of foods; street food, restaurants, take-aways; Chinese, Japanese, India, Indonesian, French, Italian, Turkish, Arab, Thai, Dutch and simply everything.Over these 18 years I have also worked at many of these restaurants across The Netherlands. From there I have served in every position in the kitchen, even as Chef and front house served and managed.Once I was given a chance to cover a colleague in the desserts section at a Dutch restaurant. I had to make a chocolate moose. The head Chef came back and wanted to know who made it. I was worried I had done something wrong. However, the customers were so happy with it, they asked for more. The secret was adding extra chocolate, but I suspect it was a hint of destiny. That was the day I discovered my why, my drive, my passion. To serve people they would love. I went on to study Gastronomy and travel to France, Dubai, Spain and Iran. Now I am at your service.
