National Mission Statement American Veterans for Equal Rights (AVER) is a non-profit, chapter-based association of Active, Reserve and Veteran Service Members dedicated to full and equal rights and equitable treatment for all present and former members of the U.S. Armed Forces. AVER-GLA Mission & Purpose The Mission of the Greater Los Angeles Chapter of American Veterans for Equal Rights (AVER – Greater Los Angeles / AVER-GLA) is to provide Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) Veterans, Active Duty and Reserve Service Members in the Greater Los Angeles Region of Southern California (which includes but is not limited to the Los Angeles Basin, which is part of Los Angeles County, Riverside County, Orange County and Ventura County) representation, advocacy and involvement in the local community. We, the LGBT Veterans and Service Members of the United States Armed Forces residing in and around the Greater Los Angeles Region of Southern California, along with our civilian allies, promote full equality and non-discriminatory treatment for all Veterans and Service Members past, present and future. We work to provide a safe, legal, emotional and social environment in which to achieve the above objectives.
