The Greater Ridgewood Historical Society is non-profit organization that provides community events, hosts educational programming, and maintains the Vander Ende-Onderdonk House. Built in 1709, the Vander Ende-Onderdonk house is the oldest Dutch stone house in New York City. After a serious fire in 1975, local residents rallied to save the structure from demolition, forming the Greater Ridgewood Historical Society. The House was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978 and opened as a museum in 1981.
