Green Building Council Russia (GBC Russia) is an Association for the assistance and support of the development and implementation of the green building standards and codes, plus sustainability certification systems.Founded in 2009 and registered as an independent nonprofit membership organization.The following goals were set by the founding group:- To promote the awareness for Green building within the community of professionals in the industry- To act as a catalyst in the transformation of the Russian construction sector towards sustainable development and circularity- Development of the Russian Green Building standard (codes).In 2021 GBC Russia returned to WorldGBC as a member to become a worthy addition to the worldwide network of professionals aiming – to transform the construction sector.Together with its members from all economic sectors, government partners and academia, GBC Russia is engaged in the development and implementation for the norms, regulations and standards for green and sustainable construction based on the adaptation of the best practices from around the world with a consideration of the Russian Federation existing characteristics.The council actively lobbies for green building ideas at the government level. It develops educational content designed to raise the awareness among the industry players and operators and contribute to the emergence of greater numbers of the green construction projects in Russia. Additionally, the council publishes industry reviews and analytical reports.The council supports and coordinates multiple projects in the fields of construction, environment and sustainable development. It is also instrumental in the process of implementation of optimal,energy efficient and environmentally safe technologies and methods on all stages of the building lifecycle, from its conceptual design and construction to its utilization to maximize its consumer qualities and to ensure public health and wellbeing.
