The Green Guild: An association of like minded professionals committed to bringing environmentally-friendly building and design practices to the communities in which we live. The founders of the company Jim, Andy and Harold all come to the world of energy efficiency from different paths but each is committed to the process of helping people save some money, save a lot of energy and maybe even save the planet one house at a time. The Green Guru of the team, Jim Lockwood, has been helping people with their homes for more than 20 years as a licensed builder and general contractor. Over time he has realized that the biggest problem facing almost all homes is just how energy inefficient they were. Wherever one looks in an older home, there are energy savings to be found or as Jim likes to say, energy savings are not just low hanging fruit, they are "watermelons we just have to pick up."Armed with his blower door and thermal camera, Jim is likely the guy who will conduct your Whole House audit and mastermind the steps you take afterwards. Greenvangelist-in-chief, Harold Simansky, has seen all sides of the energy savings spectrum. Having just developed one of the first LEED-certified residential condominium buildings in the Boston- area, Harold was looking for other ways to join the green revolution. As he looked around, it finally dawned on him, "while building new is sexy and exciting, the real answer is upgrading our existing homes and making them work efficiently." Greentrepreuner Extraordinaire, Andy Belt, comes to energy saving from a slightly different place: the numbers. Already having started several companies both in the US and his native England, Andy got excited about weatherization from looking at the return on investment. "In a world where it is hard to know where to put your money, weatherization is a no brainer," says Andy, "essentially you are being paid to upgrade your house and save money. Who wouldn't do it?"
