Green Trading Systems (GTS) provides value-added data for renewable-centric energy approaches including trading, generation, storage and retail. As our grid evolves to become less centralised, smarter and more accommodating for renewables and storage, many changes are occurring in energy demand and generation. For market participants and service providers such as retailers, residential system aggregators, demand side response providers, traders and system providers, this changing landscape presents great opportunities as well as high risk. Grid participants will increasingly rely on data analytics to drive decisions and hedge risk. For consumers such as commercial users, strata committees and self-contained villages, the emerging technology presents opportunities for cost savings and future certainty, however complex modelling is required to properly assess the advantages and mitigate financial risks. The directors of GTS have over 60 years of combined experience in energy markets, solar generation, financial modelling and risk management. We have spent more than a decade developing our current suite of models and tools. The development has occurred in both commercial R&D programs and academic research, with publications in industry journals. From this base we are building a leading data analytics platform to serve smart grid participants and assist large scale project developers with longer term forecasts. We provide optimised battery schedules to commercial sites with storage and assist in risk management and hedging for electricity retailers. GTS also uses its data analytics platform for consulting engagements, such as assessing whether certain sites would benefit from installing storage (even without solar). The largest driver here is the capacity charges that commercial and industrial users pay. By using cutting edge optimisation routines, GTS can forecast the potential savings and payback periods for installing batteries to cut these charges.
