Civic & Social Organization - Savannah, Georgia, United States
Greenbriar Children's Center was established in 1949 as an orphanage for African-American children in Savannah and the surrounding areas. In the 1960's, we opened our doors to children of all races and diversified our services to meet changing needs. We provide emergency shelter to children through age 17 who are victims of abuse or abandonment. We operate a family preservation program to help prevent abuse, neglect and the breakdown of the family structure. We also provide in home family counseling and services at our main facility. Greenbriar operates two child care centers in Savannah, where we offer high quality affordable child care and education for children ages six months to five years. Greenbriar is also proud to have established Project Safe Place here in Savannah, with over 100 sites locally where children can seek immediate help and a trained volunteer or staff member will respond with services such as emergency shelter, counseling or other referrals as needed.
