Soil and Water Conservation Districts were established nationwide as a grassroots effort to partner with federally funded programs established to control soil erosion brought to attenetion during the dust bowl.Our district was established in 1944 to serve all 269,440 acres of Greene County, Ohio, directed by a board of five publicly elected supervisors.We provide the community many serivces including but not limited too:* Urban and rural water quality and erosion control technical assistance* Conservation education (pre-Kindergarten to Adult)* Land use planning* Forestry and wildlife management* Drainage information and design* Soils, flood pains, and aerial mapsThe district is funded by the Greene County Commisioners, the State of Ohio, the USDA Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS), the Soil and Water Conservation Commission, the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, and the Ohio Department of Agriculture.Please note that Greene County has established a new social media policy, the full wording of which can be found here: https://www.co.greene.oh.us/942/Social-Media-Policy.
