The Griffith Centre for Sustainable Enterprise (GCSE), established in 2009 as the Asia Pacific Centre for Sustainable Enterprise, was setup to inform and assist the development of sustainable enterprise through innovative research, teaching and engagement activities. A highly collaborative entity with strong national and international connections to industry, academia, government and non-government organisations, we take a global perspective while focusing on the Asia Pacific region.Global concerns over climate change, environmental degradation and social inequality indicate how critical it is for business leaders to be prepared for this new business environment. The world now faces severe economic, social and environmental risks and business-as-usual is not an option. A new way of doing business that incorporates these risks into its practices, strategies and culture is needed – this is sustainable enterprise. A sustainable enterprise flourishes within environmentally sustainable limits, enhances social equity and embraces a sense of futurity.GCSE aims to create a new generation of business leaders and social entrepreneurs by teaching sustainable enterprise through the Griffith MBA as well as a stand alone Graduate Certificate. Students learn how to manage and lead organisations sustainably and responsibly, be they corporate, social or individual, through developing a better understanding of the role, dynamics and impact of organisations in the creation of social, environmental and economic value.
