For years, foundations and corporations have come in with money and ideas and tried to change communities. Their intentions are usually good, but they overlook the most essential resource for change in communities - people. Recognizing this problem, GroundWerx.CI has decided to do something revolutionary in our work with residents. Our strategic framework turns the top-down service delivery model on its head. It combines user-center design with deep immersion in residents' views and contexts. Our collaboration with residents will support their vision for a community that aligns with their culture and goals. User-centered design amplified by a strong, inspiring narrative will empower residents and produce a momentum for change that will ripple beyond GroundWerx.CI's involvement. We believe that these are key elements of sustainable change.
