We believe childhood should be a time of limitless exploration. There's something magical about the wide-eyed curiosity and unbridled energy when children discover new possibilities. As caretakers of this next generation, we invest our time and resources so our kids get the opportunity to try new things, follow their interests, develop skills, and expand their horizons. Not only to grow their individual abilities, but to enrich their characters and forge relationships with others. It's not about keeping them occupied or busy, it's about finding what inspires them to be truly enthralled in an experience. All the while seeking peace-of-mind as parents and guardians that we've left them in a safe, well looked after environment until we return.What began in 2016 as PDX Child Care, now takes a big leap forward to provide busy families with a better way to find childcare, camps, and classes. Just as we originally saw the need to better organize Portland's many diverse daycares and preschools into a single searchable resource, we've heard from families (and experienced ourselves) how time-consuming it can be to research and coordinate everything from summer camps to other structured kids activities throughout the year.As curators of these curious minds, many of us well-intentioned parents and guardians feel overwhelmed when it comes to wading through what's possible–often learning about it once it's already sold out. We seek opportunities that align with our child's interests, have space, are affordable, and meet a growing list of other family-centric criteria. In a fragmented world where families are left to fend for themselves, Growing Upwards provides an easy-to-use, one-stop resource so families may be more aware and gain greater access to the many diverse childcare, camps, and class experiences out there waiting to be explored.
