GTEL is associated with the Federal University of Ceara at Fortaleza, Brazil. The group was created in the year 2000 to develop wireless communications technology through applied research performed by UFC's professors, students, and a network of researchers. GTEL was founded and is directed by Prof. Rodrigo Cavalcanti (rodrigo@gtel.ufc.br). Main research focus at GTEL are the optimization of mobile communications in its radio access technology and networks. The aim of all research performed at GTEL is to provide end users with increased service security, quality, and reliability. GTEL has established several international partnerships with academic and industry partners throughout the years. GTEL's leading partner is Ericsson, the global telecommunications service and equipment leader. GTEL has partnered with Ericsson to help develop 3G, 4G, and 5G technologies and now heading into the sixth generation (6G) of cellular communications.
