GTIMS is a Geographic Tree Inventory Management System, developed by Riaan Van Zyl an arboristand conservation forester, with 30 years experience in arboriculture, and urban forestry, and ShaunClarke a trained and experienced Geographic Information Systems (GIS) expert and practitioner,both working from Stellenbosch, South Africa.The GTIMS system captures and uses specialist tree inventory data and combines it with ageographic reference point. This specialist information is then analyzed, and a management plan isdeveloped for the maintenance and management of trees in the cultural environment. Culturalenvironments are defined as areas which are closely associated with humans, and their activities ona frequent basis.GTIMS is the new tool for owners and custodians of trees and forests to actively manage track, andrecord, the condition, history, and maintenance work on their trees and forests, from an individualand collective level. GTIMS was developed with our customers in mind. GTIMS is a fullycustomizable, with a modular nature which serves amongst others to secure the clientsenvironmental assets within the limitations of budget constraints. We are able to join thesemodules to develop a comprehensive environmental management strategy for our clients.GTIMS is ideal for custodians, owners, and managers of environments who perceive and attach anasset value to the environment, and where a budget is available to care for and manage theseenvironments.
