WE ARE A NETWORK OF AGENCIES WORKING TOGETHER TO FOSTER EFFICIENT DELIVERY OF RESOURCES TO PEOPLE AFFECTED BY DISASTERS. GuVOAD Activities Guam VOAD is an association of organizations that are active in all phases of the disaster management cycle, with a special emphasis on nonprofit, community-based, and faith-based organizations that help individuals and families recover from the physical, financial, and emotional impact of a disaster. We sponsor activities that help our member organizations better attain disaster resiliency: Individual and family preparedness Disaster response plans Community partnerships to ensure efficient and effective collective response. Mission The Mission of the Guam Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (GuVOAD) shall be to facilitate the provision of comprehensive services to the people of Guam in disaster preparedness, response and recovery by fostering coordination among private and non-profit organizations, government agencies and local businesses. Our Guiding Principles Communication We increase the disaster preparedness of organizations and community members through workshops seminars and drills Cooperation We promote cooperation among those organizations and individuals who are, or who wish to be, active in disaster preparedness and response throughout Guam. Coordination We facilitate coordination among our member organizations, and between our members and our government partners, in order to improve disaster-related services. Collaboration We work together to strengthen partnerships, achieve specific goals, and undertake projects in preparation for and response to disasters. Member Organizations Our member organizations provide ongoing services throughout Guam on a daily basis during and after disasters, then they vastly expand their activities to assist those in need.
