The Guinea Mining Club is a not-for-profit organization established to support the promotion and development of the West African extractive industry (with a focus on Guinea) through debate and collaboration The Club was registered in October 2012 and the need for its establishment was spurred on by the advent of increased international investor interest in the region's Extractive Industries and the hitherto absence of such a forum in particularly francophone countries. The founders of the Club therefore felt there was a need for regular interaction at a social and technical level for a wider cross section of industry personnel. Our vision is to create an independent platform for the promotion and balanced development of the extractive industries in Guinea and to encourage debate and collaboration between national, regional and international stakeholders in the West African region. The expectations are for the extractive industries to catalyze development at local, national and regional levels. There is recognition that this requires strengthened governance and engagement and collaboration among stakeholders. Club membership is open to people from all segments of the mining and associated Extractive Industries including geologists, engineers, metallurgists, accountants, economists, lawyers, journalists, technical representatives, drilling company representatives, suppliers and others. The Club plans' include holding regular luncheon meetings, an annual international conference, seminars, training courses and an annual dinner with a keynote speaker. The aim is providing opportunities for keeping abreast of developments in the industry as well as for networking and interacting with guest speakers.
