Richard (Dick) Gurney worked hands-on in the field the servicing of his machinery was always a problem. He was continually frustrated with all types of greasing equipment available. This was bad enough in itself, but everyone recognises the much bigger problem. That is the unnecessary accelerated wear and tear caused by poor and ineffective greasing.Dick started with the mindset that, there must be a better way. There were many challenges including:• The scenario to make greasing easy.• To make a grease gun reliable.• To make a grease gun durable. After many weekends he produced the first prototype. He built 20 units by hand that were snapped up by his neighbours. (Some of these are still in operation today after 25 years in the field.)From this humble beginning on a farm in South Africa, sales continue to grow by reputation and word of mouth.Today Cary Lusso, Gurtech's managing director, runs a 21 527 ft² (2,000 m²) factory in Kwa-Zulu Natal, where he is involved in continuously upgrading the factory to keep up with demand.Dicks next project was to tackle the challenge of designing an improved grease coupler. He came up with a concept-drawing some years back. Unfortunately he did not have the resources to start this project at that time. He was able to start the project in 2010 and then Cary Lusso and his team took over and after a great deal of R&D over an 18 month period have now produced the revolutionary patented coupler, that is marketed under the Lock and Lube™ brand. This is the first departure from the conventional Zerk compatible coupler design in over 80 years. It is long overdue. The Gurtech team believe that their coupler has all the features necessary to make it a successful global product. We invite you to join the thousands who have experienced the joy of owning a G.Gun and Lock and Lube™ Grease Coupler.
