Gym Sense Gymnastics started with an idea. When I was growing up I dreamed of representing Canada at the Olympics. I trained hard and moved up through levels. Unfortunately, when I was at the highest level I reached, my father passed away, leaving my mother to raise the family alone, which meant all extra activities were no longer affordable. However I was not going to give up something I loved so much. So I worked out a deal with my coach and started coaching the younger kids classes in exchange for my lessons. This is when I fell in love with teaching. This is also when I set a goal….the goal to make gymnastics affordable for anyone who wants to learn the sport.Fast forward to the present day, this memory helped keep me focus on my plan. Affordable gymnastics for anyone who wanted to learn. Gym Sense Gymnastics started with providing programs in schools by providing the gymnastics component of the physical education program. Gym Sense has grown and now provides after school programs and summer camp programs. The after school programs are currently running out of a community centre called Collingwood Neighbourhood House in Vancouver three days a week. There are plans to open our very own gymnastic centre that will be the homebase of Gym Sense Gymnastics in East Vancouver. We will continue to with both programs, School and After School programs and expanding the program to the High School level.
