In 1997, Habitat for Humanity for San Luis Obispo became an official affiliate. Habitat is a nonprofit housing organization founded on the basic principle that everyone should have a decent, safe, affordable place to live. Affordable housing in San Luis Obispo County is in desperate need. At Habitat, volunteers and donations make it possible for us to serve low-income families, individuals, and seniors by building homes, preserving homes, and revitalizing local neighborhoods. To date, we have built 17 homes, completed 20 home preservation projects, revitalized 2 neighborhoods, and have just started a home rehabilitation program.
