HFH of Greater Volusia County is a non-profit, Christian housing ministry that works both to eliminate poverty housing around the world and to make adequate housing a matter of conscience and action. Habitat welcomes to the table partners from any faith -- or from no faith -- who are willing to pick up a hammer to help improve the lives of families needing decent shelter.HFH of Greater Volusia County builds throughout the county -- Ormond Beach, Holly Hill, Daytona Beach, South Daytona, Port Orange, DeBary, Orange City, Enterprise, Osteen and Deltona in Florida. The volunteers and business partners have helped complete 157 new homes and 15 renovations -- serving 172 families, including more than 375 children -- as of June 30, 2016. Ten percent of local donations are contributed to Habitat for Humanity International for overseas builds -- HFH of Greater Volusia County's faithful tithe has built 136 additional homes throughout the world. Habitat is not a give-away program -- families contribute hundreds of "sweat-equity" hours toward their home and others. When the home is completed, Habitat sells the home to the family at no profit and provides a zero-interest mortgage. All mortgage payments are used to support the building of additional Habitat homes.
