Haffenreffer & Co., Inc. was founded in 1870 by my great grandfather. The company was run by family until 1965 when the brands were licensed to large national breweries.In 2009, in the face of declining sales of Haffenreffer Private Stock Malt Liquor, my cousin Nick Shields decided it was time to take back the licenses, breathe some new life into the brand and get back into the beer business. And so we did.Private Stock is brewed at 2 breweries in New York and Pennsylvania and sold in 13 states.
