The Children's Hospice Association (INC) trading as Hannah's House, was founded by Martin Watson and Jacky Vigurs, parents of Hannah Watson who was born with a rare syndrome called Opitz Trigonocephaly. She had profound intellectual and physical disabilities and complex medical needs, that required around the clock care.Hannah was not expected to live beyond her first birthday. She passed away in 2010 aged 19 with Jacky and Martin her lifelong carers.Caring for a child with complex needs requires commitment 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The challenges of providing ongoing care with little or no support, has been found to lead to social isolation, sleep deprivation, stress, fatigue and anxiety for parents. These stressors can soon impact negatively on home, work and social life and place the family under great strain.Hannah's House focuses on quality of life for the child and support for the whole family. Our packages support children with life-limiting conditions and complex needs and their families, from diagnosis to recovery; or palliative care and bereavement and beyond.Charitable StatusThe Children's Hospice Association (INC) is a registered public benevolent institution (PBI) and charity with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC) and are an endorsed deductible gift recipient (DGR) by the Australian Tax Office. Donations made to Hannah's House of $2 and over are tax deductible.
