At Happy Tails TR, we are committed to enriching the lives of individuals with special needs in our community. Our team of PATH Intl. Certified Therapeutic Riding Instructors, trained volunteers, and very special horses work together to provide therapeutic horseback riding and horsemanship lessons to those with cognitive, physical and psychological disabilities.Therapeutic riding improves balance and coordination, helps strengthen unused and under developed muscles, and promotes self worth and self esteem. All of this while having a great time astride a horse. Horsemanship lessons have a focus on unmounted activities, that may include grooming, leading, horse care, among other farm activities. These lessons help develop social skills, teach job and life skills, develop physical strength, and promote a sense of responsibility, importance and belonging. In many cases, therapeutic lessons and horsemanship lessons are combined for maximum benefit to the student. As Colts Neck's only therapeutic riding center, we share our facility with Copper Hill Stables. This gives us the unique opportunity to bridge the gap between the hunter/jumper, able-body and special needs communities through a shared passion - horses.
