Harbor Scholars: A Dwight Hall Program at Yale is a service, scholarship, and advocacy organization that seeks to address the unique challenges faced by those who do not benefit from the personal and financial support that many of their peers receive from family in high schools and higher learning institutions throughout Connecticut. This identity includes but is not limited to foster youth, emancipated minors, unaccompanied minors, estranged LGBTQ+ youth, and those who lack parental support for other reasons. In order to ensure the continued success of these individuals at the collegiate level, the program provides financial assistance, winter housing accommodations, community and social support to college students of this identity, starting with Yale in its pilot phase. The program also engages in mentorship and college counseling services for youth in out-of-home care across Connecticut and youth advocacy on the state and local levels.
