H.A.R.P.E. is a North Carolina nonprofit that utilizes a holistic approach in its quest to help families and individuals obtain and maintain affordable housing. This desired outcome is premised upon three core definitions H.A.R.P.E. uses at its foundation. H.A.R.P.E. strives to assist its participants to stabilize their current situation and move toward productivity. Stabilization, as defined by H.A.R.P.E., is the leveling and/or reduction of a participant's need for social assistance, while H.A.R.P.E. defines productivity as, a participant's contribution to their community in time and/or increased payment of taxes. These two definitions along with H.A.R.P.E.'s reconceputalization of 'affordable-housing', which in HARPE's term means - the acquisition and maintenance of an income appropriate living environment (rented, leased, or purchased) that meets their basic, safety, and physiological needs.H.A.R.P.E. is an expansion program that builds community partnerships through alliances with entities that have goals in alignment to H.A.R.P.E.'s mission.
