Trust… safety… integrity… these are all words that describe how we would like to think our computer systems work. But they don't work that way. Malware and inadvertent vulnerabilities have placed our systems under continuous assault – and led people to distrust the digital technology designed to improve our lives. The ability to trust the information we're sharing; the ability to create collaborations seamlessly and know the participants; the ability to understand the implications of our actions. These are all necessary in today's digital world.The Harris Institute for Assured Information is an interdisciplinary center that focuses on high-risk disruptive work aimed at helping us trust the information that we so often rely on. Founded in 2009 by a grant from Harris Corporation, the Harris Institute brings together computer science, psychology, business and biology to carry out cutting-edge research in computer security. Our goal is lofty: to change the way we think about the information that flows around us, and to help drive a fundamental shift in how we protect it.
