Harstad University College (HiH) is situated north of the Arctic Circle, in the City of Harstad, Norway. HiH has approximately 1300 students and 130 employees. The institution was established in 1983 and offers a friendly and initimate atmosphere. There are two departments: Business Administration and Social Sciences and Health and Social Work. Harstad University College participates in the Socrates, Leonardo, Nordplus and Barentsplus exchange programmes. HiH has also signed a number of bilateral agreements with institutions spread over four continents. Our modern facilities were completed in 1997 and accommodate most of the activities under one roof, centrally and beautifully located close to the city centre and the harbour. All our students are automatically registered as members of the student welfare organization, SiHa, providing them with general everyday practical information. Harstad is a modern city of 24 500 inhabitants. It is characterized by a pleasant coastal climate, ideally situated on a picturesque island surrounded by mountains and sea. The city hosts a variety of industries in agriculture, fisheries, oil exploration, trade and retail in addition to travel and tourism.
