In 2007, HealthCare Information Technology Solutions (HCITS) was formed by a group of family medicine physicians to provide expert technical support and implementation guidance for the GE Centricity product. Puget Sound Family Physicians (PSFP) implemented Centricity and recognized that the typical physician office IT infrastructure would not be enough to handle the complex world of electronic records and interfaces. It became clear our experience in implementation, and the expert staff we had assembled, could benefit other physician groups. Keeping the focus on what is effective behind the exam room door is what sets HCITS apart from other IT vendors. We specialize in bringing together the features and training, as well as the interfaces and products, to make a physician's workflow smooth and efficient. Because we are rooted in putting the physician-patient interaction first, we understand the need for timely, prompt support and well-designed applications. The electronic record should enhance diagnosis and treatment, not slow it down. At a time when grants and incentives are available to reward the move to electronic records, we can catapult an office towards receiving these funds.
