Healing Little Hearts (Registered charity no: 1130194)Founded in June 2009 by Dr Sanjiv Nichani OBE, Healing Little Hearts primary aim was to perform FREE life saving heart operations on the poorest babies and children in India. Since then, with over 2000 operations performed in over 12 years, we now carry out up to 23 camps in 12 countries across 3 continents in the developing parts of the world every year. This forms Healing Little Hearts Global Foundation.Global StatisticsEvery year 1.4 million children across the world are born with Congenital Heart Disease. Of those children, 1 million are born in the developing world. Unfortunately 90% will never receive the corrective heart surgery they need to go on and lead normal healthy lives. This is due to a lack of physical infrastructure and a severe lack of trained medical and nursing personnel in these countries. Often the best care available is only in private hospitals, which is out of reach to the majority who require it the most. In addition there are over 300,000 deaths from Rheumatic heart disease which is an acquired post infection heart condition. The combined effect of this staggering incidence of congenital and acquired heart disease in the developing world is in excess of 750,000 childhood deaths every year. The countries we visit do not have a public health system like the National Health Service (NHS). Some countries with populations equal to the UK have NO children's heart centres. Sadly, thousands of children die waiting for treatment. How can you help?Currently we have over 150 medical and administrative volunteers. With our camps increasing at a rapid pace we are actively looking for more volunteers. You can also help us save precious little lives by donating to us or by a number of other ways, all of which can be found on our website - www.healinglittlehearts.org.ukDon't forget to 'Like' our posts to help raise awareness.Thank you.Healing Little Hearts Team
