The Girasoles Sanos Health Management System is a web-based multimedia tool for supporting extremely marginalized and underserved youth. Originally developed as an online database to monitor the health of the children living in orphanages around Peru – the project has grown into a web-based health management system that allows for the monitoring and care prioritization for hundreds of extremely vulnerable children. We took a problem: how does an organization with a number homes scattered over a large geographic area, monitor the complex needs of the children in their care? And transformed the problem into a comprehensive solution: an Internet health management system that allows for the monitoring of children across a number of complex variables (e.g. chronological age vs. school year enrollment). The Girasoles Sanos tool assures the most appropriate resources can be defined and delivered to the kids that need them the most in a timely manner.
