Civic & Social Organization - Chicago, Illinois, United States
Headquartered in Chicago's Pilsen neighborhood, Healthy Hood was established to elevate the mind, body, and soul of urban communities by healing and empowering the underserved for a better tomorrow. The organization sprouted from a partnership with Rush University, to form the Youth Health Service Corps, a program that works with local Chicago public school students to educate and irradiate the five most common diseases that act as killers in communities of color. In its inaugural role, Healthy Hood acted as and continues to be the community center that provides health services and community engagement.Over the years, Healthy Hood has grown to serve its communities holistically. Providing programming for all ages, HH tackles the issues and obstacles that most harshly affect our black and brown neighborhoods. From mental health services, fitness classes, youth education to professional development and women empowerment, Healthy Hood aims to help communities survive and strive by offering programs and resources that cultivate the collective MIND, BODY, and SOUL for a stronger future.
