The Heart and Armor Foundation aims to protect the health of veterans, and to connect civilians to the experience of military service. We focus on the biology of PTSD, the needs of women veterans, isolation and integration in post 9/11 veterans, cultural engagement with the civilian community, and ethnicity and traumatic stress. Since 2012, we have generated over eight million dollars in federal funding from the National Institutes of Health, the Department of Veterans Affairs, and the Department of Defense to continue successful pilot research. We have produced ten peer-reviewed scientific publications, developed innovative community programming for veterans utilizing the GI Bill, and hosted public events and presentations for the civilian community. We aim to serve tens of thousands of veterans, engage a national civilian audience, and generate over $50 million in veterans health research by 2024.
