Heart of Australia is the first mobile medical program delivering cardiac and respiratory specialist services to rural and remote communities in Queensland.Heart of Australia will bring specialist services to rural communities on a 25m-long custom-designed clinic-on-wheels, driven by a Kenworth K200 prime mover.The purpose-built, self-sufficient trailer provides two private clinic rooms, a testing room and a reception area for patients. It is wheelchair accessible and fully-air-conditioned.Heart of Australia is the brainchild of Brisbane cardiologist Dr Rolf Gomes, a father of three and the principal of Medihearts – his established private cardiology practice in Brisbane. The program is being delivered in partnership with Arrow Energy and has received funding from the Australian and Queensland governments.Heart of Australia is also supported by Bayer Australia, St Andrew's War Memorial Hospital, IOR Petroleum and Telstra Country Wide.
