Media Production - Lincoln, Nebraska, United States
Introducing HeartlandSince June, we have been developing a new platform to showcase the businesses of Nebraska and tell the stories of people who live and work here. With the help of faculty members, professionals in residence, and the work of our students, we have created this completely new webzine, Heartland. To begin, we decided to focus on Nebraska women who are playing a vital role in shaping the business landscape. While more than fifty percent of our population is female and more than half have management, law, medical, and other professional degrees, successful Nebraska women remain underrepresented in the media. We are out to change that.In this, our first edition, Heartland brings the voices of women leaders and entrepreneurs from across the state to life. A young girl from Hawaii moves to Omaha and becomes one of the first female CIOs in the country. A graduate from the University of Nebraska-Omaha follows her dreams around the world to become a master chocolatier and returns to open her own business. And a fifth-generation Broken Bow native comes home to work in the energy sector and raise a sixth-generation.We hope you enjoy these and all the other stories in this edition as well as find inspiration to build and grow your own professional lives here. One of our goals at Heartland is to put our state on the map as a great place to do business and find success; we can think of no better way to begin than with an inaugural edition featuring women who are doing just that.Kaitlynn JohnsonShreyoshi GhoshEditors
